US Deployment of a EHS Reporting System
Started in 2024, ongoing additional capabilities and upgrades continue.
The project scope involved replacing a legacy Salesforce-based safety reporting and recording platform. The previous system—also developed and deployed by me—included injury and accident reporting with integrations to Sedgwick and other claims-management systems. It supported safety-related reporting such as committee meetings, inspections and audits, BBS observations, OSHA logs, environmental initiatives, safety training, and a wide range of additional safety functions. Together, these components generated all metrics, reports, and KPIs required by the business.
Phase 1 focused on deploying, training, and implementing incident reporting across the U.S., including advanced integrations with the TPA and claims-management systems.
Phase 2 delivered Safety Committee meeting functionality and other safety-meeting reporting capabilities, along with training and launch processes to ensure long-term sustainability. This phase was followed by the rollout of inspections and audits within the new platform, as well as the migration of recorded safety trainings to a separate global system.
The project required full process design and change-management execution at the country level. Additional components included electronic OSHA log production and, as a final step, deployment of the BBS Observation program. I led and collaborated across multiple global and regional workstreams to support implementation of a harmonized global system and shared terminology for use in more than 200 countries by 2026.
CA Heat Program - Indoor and Outdoor
2024, Designed and Implemented with all CA leaders and employees. Complete program rolled out to include training, supervision and enforcement. This included incoporating a automated system for monitoring, recording and mgmt notification when heat and hummidity indexes hit certain thresholds.
OSHA and DOT Country SME Lead
2003 to Present
In the transportation, warehousing, and logistics industry, workplace inspections related to OSHA and DOT regulations are routine. I lead all inquiries stemming from complaints, National Emphasis Program (NEP) targeted inspections, and serious incidents from start to finish. I am the first point of contact for each location—from the moment a regulatory agency arrives on-site to the final closure notification. Although both agencies follow multi-step processes that vary depending on the type of inspection, I oversee every stage and ensure all requirements are met through to resolution.
Throughout my career, across multiple roles and organizations, I have resolved hundreds of OSHA and DOT cases. I am widely regarded as one of the strongest leaders in managing and guiding operations through any scenario that brings regulatory agencies on-site.
PEAK Power Step Challenge - US
Launched in 2023, the program was designed and implemented in collaboration with all frontline staff and leaders. It has since expanded into a fully developed, coast-to-coast competition, supported by an automated system for monitoring, recording, and leaderboard tracking. The rollout includes a mobile app for cell phone use, along with implementation across all region as expanded. Prize tiers and recognition brackets are also integrated to drive engagement and performance.
Country Wide Telematics with Cameras Deployment
Completed all fleet and locations deployments in 2023
The project involved replacing a legacy telematics-only system with the Samsara platform. This upgrade required a complete overhaul of fleet operations, management processes, and employee training. A full change-management and transformation strategy was implemented to support this large-scale rollout.
The deployment included collaboration with multiple unions under various labor contracts, as well as development of multilingual materials incorporated into updated agreements. The introduction of in-vehicle cameras and advanced system capabilities shifted the organization from a reactive approach to a proactive, prevention-focused model for safety performance and indicators.
Upon reaching its final stages, the project encompassed multiple departments and workstreams, IT and payroll integrations (including automated DOT Hours of Service requirements), executive leadership, and management at all levels. Collaboration across all these groups—along with the engagement of frontline employees—was essential to the project’s overall success.
Courier Safe Driving Competition (Rodeo)
First Rodeo started in 2016, now more than 10 years running.
Designed and launched in 2016, the Courier Rodeo is an annual safe-driving competition open to all U.S. drivers and couriers. Nearly a thousand participants sign up each year to compete for the title of “best of the best” at the final event. As the creator and lead project manager, I have overseen ongoing enhancements to the competition’s criteria, venues, rules, and participant guidelines.
Over a 16-week qualifying period, drivers are evaluated using on-road safety telematics data, written safety exams, defensive-driving assessments, MVR checks, accident and incident history, and DVIR-based fleet scoring. These metrics identify the top 30 safest drivers, who then advance to an in-person competition. This final stage spans several days and includes additional scoring elements such as direct on-road observation, live DVIR testing, trainer-level exams, and a precision maneuvering course. The overall winner is announced during a live awards ceremony.
The Courier Rodeo was intentionally designed to engage frontline employees and strengthen the organization’s safety culture. It has been widely regarded as the company’s most successful and impactful frontline engagement initiative. The program has evolved over the years—adapting formats, testing improvements, and even operating virtually during the COVID era—while consistently delivering high levels of participation and cultural impact.
New Location Projects - Designed with Safety in Mind
PMO Type projects experience starting back in 2007
I have led numerous location build-outs, relocations, and upgrade projects from initial planning through go-live, depending on the project scope. In each case, I directed multiple teams and workstreams to achieve the desired outcomes, always prioritizing safety throughout both construction and operational planning.
These projects consistently incorporated hazard and risk assessments, safe work practices and directives, training programs, supervisory controls, and enforcement processes—all implemented before go-live. Each initiative followed the principle that when a facility is designed and built around safety-driven decisions, it creates a work environment that minimizes accidents and injuries.
I’m happy to discuss specific examples, whether it’s a new building layout, robotic enhancements, mobile cart solutions, or a full redesign of ramp/tarmac operations and material-processing workflows. My expertise includes conveyors, lifts, ball-decking, K-loader operations, sortation systems, spiral slides, and high-traffic management areas.
Forklift Rodeo - US Operations
Beginning in 2022, I designed and implemented a Forklift Rodeo following the success of the Driver Rodeo. The program featured a variety of scored tests, obstacle courses, and a tiered leaderboard for recognizing top performers and awarding prizes. It successfully engaged warehouse employees who were not part of driving operations. Although the program was well received, it was later discontinued due to broader business decisions. The initiative was implemented exclusively within gateway operations locations.
Managed Serious Incident Investigations
Experience begins in 1995 to today.
I have managed countless investigations involving serious accidents and injuries, including fatalities, multi-vehicle collisions, pedestrian incidents, loss-of-consciousness events, and many other complex scenarios. From initial response through final case closure—regardless of the agencies involved—I have guided organizations through these challenging and often traumatic situations. My expertise as both a subject matter expert and an experienced crisis manager enables me to drive thorough, accurate investigations and achieve sound outcomes.
I have served multiple times as a corporate designee (Corp-C) witness, testifying on behalf of the company during depositions and legal proceedings. In this role, I did not provide testimony based on personal knowledge, but rather represented the organization by presenting its information, documentation, and official understanding of the issues at hand.
COVID Crises Managment - US
Beginning in January 2020, I served as part of the U.S. crisis management team. This work involved developing comprehensive workplace protocols and procedures in response to the evolving pandemic. As states rapidly updated their regulations, our team actively monitored, managed, and implemented the required changes. Responsibilities covered a wide range of areas, including enhanced sterilization and cleaning practices, at-home quarantine procedures, and return-to-work protocols. During this period, several employees were transitioned to a work-from-home model. The team was accountable for overseeing, directing, and executing change management across all operations.
Onsite Company Occupational Clinic Build
Deployed and executed in 2016
From initial concept to full operational launch, I led the development of an onsite clinic/urgent care facility for the company. This initiative was delivered through extensive collaboration with internal partners and external agencies. The project encompassed not only the creation of the clinic itself—where medical procedures and occupational health services are performed—but also the establishment of seamless processes with local emergency care providers (St. Elizabeth Hospitals) to ensure effective continuity of care for employees requiring additional treatment.
The clinic’s primary focus is occupational and work-related medical care, managed by nurse practitioners and physicians. We also incorporated first-opinion diagnostics for non-work-related concerns, along with healthy living and fitness consultations, which helped transform the clinic into a highly valued employee resource.
This project was built around an hourly pay model for medical staff, eliminating the quotas and service caps typically found in traditional healthcare settings. We also established a partnership with local EMS authorities to reduce ambulance response and transport needs, further keeping costs down and services in-house. All medical documentation was maintained in the SYSTOC medical records system to ensure strict compliance with privacy requirements, medical treatment standards, and company policies.
